Corbin seat?

One of the accessories Zero offers is a Corbin seat (either low profile or regular). I find the stock 2012 Zero DS seat uncomfortable on longer rides and Corbin has a reputation for comfort. The thing that turns me off though is that I will be unable to try the seat before I buy it.

Any opinions on Corbin seats?

Well, I'm sure you won't have this problem with the Zero, given its smooth, electric acceleration, but you should be aware of this Corbin-seat-related problem:

I have tried the lower Corbin seat and I like it. As it is thinner it is as well a bit harder and on long rides you might shift a bit forward/backward. For speedy riding it gives a more fixed position as it is slopped downwards. You are as well in a lower profile and combine this with a sportscreen you are "racing". Just wondered why they did not have them at the TTXGP electric motorcycle racing series in the eSuperStock category. Only the low seat was on the bikes it seems.
After sitting further to the back at times, I found myself slipping forward into the slope when breaking ...  :)

I used the Corbin seat on my 2010 DS and moved it to my 2012 DS when I bought it. I like it mainly for the lower stand-over height. It is fairly hard but that is the tradeoff for getting closer to the ground and also lowering the CG.

I bought my 2012 ZeroS ZF9 with the Corbin seat so I could actually ride it -- I'm 5'5" and could not get on the standard seat even on tip-toe. :)

I test-drove the XU with the regular seat, which was much softer in comparison but not more comfortable than the Corbin. The ergonomics on the Corbin is better I imagine.

Has anyone gotten foot pegs with their Zero for a passenger? Curious how that goes...(I have a set on order so I can get back to giving my kids a ride to school).

I ordered the footpegs the first day they were announced and I am still waiting for them.

How do the Corbins hold up over time? I've noticed that I already have derrière dents in my stock seat on my DS, and I've only gone about 600 miles. I expect to be replacing or repadding that seat in a couple years.

I have used Corbin seats for years. The build quality of their fiberglass seat pans have not always been the best. Most of the time they don't fit well and the seat tends to be very heavy, compared with the stock seat, in my experience.  However, they are very comfortable (after a few months of break-in) and the Corbin seat that I installed on my 1986 VFR700FII (that I gave to my daughter) is still holding up after almost 90,000 miles. She also has one on her 1981 BMW R650LS and it still looks good too, after 85,000 miles. I can handle the stock seat for an hour or so, but if I had to sit on it much longer than that, I would probably invest in the Corbin.
