Dow Kokam to power 'most advanced electric motorcycle in the world'
Quote
MIDLAND — Dow Kokam has reached an agreement with an electric motors company that could put a real charge in motorcycle racing circuits.

Portland, Ore.-based MotoCzysz, a design and engineering firm working exclusively on electric motors has agreed to have Midland-based Dow Kokam be the official supplier of its advanced lithium polymer batteries to power factory racing motorcycles this year.

In 2010, the MotoCzysz E1pc motorcycle, powered by Dow Kokam's advanced battery technology, which will be manufactured at a 400,000-square-foot battery park in Midland in 2012, won and broke records in both international and U.S. races. Popular Science magazine called the bike "the most advanced electric motorcycle in the world."

For 2011, it has been completely redesigned, with a focus on higher energy density and improved interconnects between cells in the battery system.

"Dow Kokam's advanced lithium polymer battery cells are best-in-class and capable of producing race winning performance," said Michael Czysz, founder and chief executive officer of MotoCzysz, in a statement.

"These advancements will eventually be available to other motorsports teams and will help deliver that same advantaged performance to passenger vehicle electrification as well."
