Pegasus Energy Partners solar farm
« on: April 15, 2011, 09:10:53 PM »

Pegasus Energy Partners is proposing to build the "country's largest solar power farm" in eastern Alameda County, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The solar farm would generate 400 MW at the facility to be called the Mountain House Solar Farm to be located on a 2000-acre site located north of Kelso Road and west of Mountain House Road, near highway J4, north of I-580. In a few weeks Pegasus Energy intends to file an application with Alameda County planners for a conditional (aren't they all) use permit. If approved and if it gets funded, the first phase could be on line by 2014 - assuming no endangered turtles, snakes, or frogs are found on the property. What is interesting about this facility is that it is located very close to a large population area and would not require a lot of new power transmission lines to get to PG&E's power system as would be required for the projects being built in the Southern California desert .
