I just got a pair of Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires hoping to improve the cold wet traction, they are rated pretty high for wet traction and I can't wait to get 'em mounted since it rains nearly every day in the winter here.
They were relatively affordable from revzilla. The stock ones are def slipping on these cold wet streets and tar lines...
Anyone tried these?

I put a pair of Metzeler Tourance Next tires on my DSR late last summer and the tread pattern looks similar. Much quieter ride and very solid handling both dry and wet. I look forward to hearing how yours work out.

I also put Metzler Tourance tyres on a year ago. Haven't looked back. Transformed the handling, massive increase in grip in all conditions. Very happy with them indeed!
That's on a 2014 DS by the way. The stock tyres were a make called Kendra. Absolutely rubbish with the benefit of hindsight!

I'm also riding with Metzler Tourance Next tires on my DSR. I changed the rear at 13000 miles and the front at 19000(!) miles.
At 26000 miles on the odometer now, they're holding up quite well and I prefer the handling to the OEM tires, especially in the wet.

I’ve just replaced the OEM MT60s with Scorpion Trail IIs ( I had Scorpion Trails on my GS before...) and I love them. Secure feel, good grip, lovely cornering and a smooth ride. But I can still tackle a gravel road with ease! Warmly recommended!

The Michelin Anakee 3 is another good tire to consider for dual sport (but mostly street) riding.

Running with Metzeler Tourance NEXT. So far very satisfied with both dry and wet performance.

Why is that?
I've put 50k+ miles on their rear tires on my BMW 1150RT & now my Zero DSR.
No issues/complaints.
That said, I've yet to use one of their fronts but will likely when it's time to change out the DSR's.

I have used Stinkos before and have no real issue with them, other than the sport-touring tires that I tried didn't last as long as the major brands. While they certainly do cost less, since removing and reinstalling wheels and mounting and balancing tires is such a hassle, I tend to go for the tires with the longest life and don't worry too much about their cost - within reason, of course. ;)

The Shinko's I had on my KLR650 just didn't wear very well, especially the rear. That was a number of years ago so maybe they have improved since then.

Yes it's very much true that the Shinko Ravens on my RT only last 2/3rds that of
a Michelin Pilot Road 4 but they only cost half as much.
I have a tire changing machine & balancer so I'm only out time which I have more of then money :P

I'm on my second set of Metzeler Tourance tyres here in the UK. I'm not sure if we call them 'Next' here, but they're so good I'm afraid to try anything else!
