Title: New model coming out!
Post by: ultrarnr on October 20, 2017, 03:56:28 PM
According to an email from Energica they are coming out with a new model. The reveal is at EICMA, 7-12 November. Hoping for a lower priced version and still have DCFC as an option.

CalMoto carries the Energica? That was news to me. Now that would be a change from their previous concerns about electric motorcycles.  I'm going down there tomorrow as they are having an "open house" celebration at their Mountain View location. CalMoto has been my BMW dealer for the past 30 years. I'll see what I can find out about their new franchise.  The last I heard they were thinking about Red Shift.  ???

Maybe both. What time are you going? Do they have the c-evolution?

I plan to arrive about 9:15 this morning so that I can get first dibs on the best of the Costco muffins and the coffee before it runs out. I'll probably get bored around 11 am, leave for home then and spend the rest of the day doing house and yardwork.  ::)  If I see anything interesting I'll take photos.  I'll be riding my blue 2016 R1200RS since it needs its oil warmed up this week.  ::)

If they have the C-Evolution scooter I would be surprised.  I have been talking to the sales manager for the past five years about electric motorcycles and I would have expected her to email me when the new scooter arrives so that I could go for a test ride and give her my professional opinion about the scooter.   ::)

No electric motorcycles were at the shop today.  However, I spoke with the shop owner and he told me that one or two (current) Energica models would be arriving (probably) next week.  Of more interest to anyone wanting to buy one, he said that there had been a big drop in price for the naked model in California.  He told me that Energica got a bundle of cash from California's "cap and trade" credit market and that allowed them to lower the price of the least expensive bike from around $30K to "only" $23K USD.  ???  I will have to check that out the next time I visit the shop, which I will need to do when a part that I ordered today arrives.

Yeah, I was at Calmoto's open house today too....  Hoping to view the Energica  as well....  I also asked a couple of sales people about the Alta possibility....  No one had a clue....  Disappointing....  I have serious interest in the Alta SM....

I think Alta was one of their employee's dreams.  But apparently the shop owner feels that the Energica bikes will be more saleable to their particular customers as I don't believe there is any possibility for dirt riding within many miles of the shop.  That would require trucking the bike to an off-road park, south of San Jose and I bet there are no charging facilities there.  It is also possible that there were some financial considerations that went with the Energica franchise that made it more desirable than Alta or Zero.  ???  Personally, I really wish they had bitten the Zero bullet, but perhaps Zero having a dealership in San Francisco and another one in San Jose would have provided too much competition for such a small (electric motorcycle) market.
