Title: 2010 Zero S - faster charging?
Post by: craigster on September 28, 2017, 01:54:19 AM
I'm wondering if there is a way to implement a faster charge for this bike (2010 Zero S) - yes I know its older and obsolete but its for a project I'm doing. I have read up on some posts about the meanwells however none mention anything pre 2013. If anyone has made a fast charger or knows it to be possible and have any recommendations that would be fantastic. please let me know!

Wow man sorry I just have seen your post.  There was a Zero quick charger on ebay for the older 72 volt bikes.  I looked but I didn't see it today.  Could have sold or the listing could have ran out and hasn't reposted it yet.  Maybe keep searching "Zero Motorcycle charger" and you might see it again.
Good luck.

I dont know what battery yours has, but yes you can use a meanwell to charge it.
find the max charge rate and the voltage, then get an appropriately sized meanwell, set the voltage, and hook it up.

I can't find the max charge rate anywhere. its the "4kWh" battery - 58V 70Ah.  So my charging is limited by the 58 volts correct?

OK this project is back on. I can get a Meanwell RSP-2000 but would my bike be capable of taking 2 wired in parallel? this would be a 1C charge rate for the battery...
