From the picture it looked like an Alta and the article confirmed it.  Love the two wheel drive.

I heard that Zero was competing for that contract, which is one reason why the FX has swappable battery packs

Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure Zero had that contract for a few years. FX with swappable packs and some black out switches, probably other upgrades also.

When I toured the factory in December 2012, Zero had five military models in a corner that they were developing.  But I have no idea if they ever got a contract to build more than a few for testing.
