Title: HandMade Fixation for SHAD E-48 Saddle Bags
Post by: jroqueca on August 03, 2017, 02:11:25 AM
Hi all,

I've got a SHAD E-48 Semirigid Saddle Bags but SHAD doesn't have a fixation for this saddle bags on the Zero S.

I'll show you how I've attached it. It's very simple. We need the Side Bag Holder for SHAD Top Master (http://www.shad.es/descargas/shad5738.pdf (http://www.shad.es/descargas/shad5738.pdf)), 3 metal parts, a few screws and black paint.

Images are better

1.- Pieces buyed at hardware store. Central join piece is shown in image 4.

2.- Side Bag Holder (D0SS5SE reference)

3.- Screw on the metal part. Holes need to be drilled in SHAD support

4.- The 3 metal parts are joined by screws

5.- Screw the metal part under the seat.

6.- Paint it. Very important.  8)

7.- et voilà. This is result. Simple and cheap vs Zero Kit (http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_7&products_id=199 (http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_7&products_id=199))

Do you think it could be posted in luggage section of unofficial Zero manual page? Can anyone upload to it?
I was looking for a solution to fix my bags and this post would have been very helpful.

Regards.

Nice work! I do like how the cases look, and they seem bigger when expanded than Zero's stock side cases.

I'll add a writeup of this to the wiki in case others want the same.

Yes, when the bags expand they reach up to 52 liters. And yes, if people find this solution useful you could move it to the wiki, I appreciate it.

Thanks

I added an entry to the wiki for now:
http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Zero_Aftermarket#Soft_Luggage.2FCases (http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Zero_Aftermarket#Soft_Luggage.2FCases)

I'll get to a custom install howto soon.

Perfect,

I think it can useful for Zero users. It's an easy and unexpensive way to implement fixing.

If you need more photos or any other thing ask me for it.

Thanks Brian.

jroqueca,

Thanks for the great writeup.

I simplified it down.

I did buy the exact same SADE E-48 mounting kit, but I used that kit with some old Oxford soft bags I had leftover from my old ICE bike.

I drilled two holes in the SADE mounts, then bought a longer bolt for the existing seat mount

The bolt you need for this mod for the seat is
M8 x 1.25 x 80mm long

I then used two screws and spacers that come with the SADE kit, into the existing tapped holes in the Zero SR frame

In total, you need to drill four thru holes in the SADE kit (on each side, they are 2.3 inches apart, I used calipers), and buy two screws.

Thanks again,

Brian
