Title: Victory shutting down!

Maybe the TT's will be available for an even lesser price now. Polaris tells that it will have parts and support available for 10 more years.

EDIT: $10,000 customer cash :)

I wouldn't bet on Polaris having parts for the Empulse TT for the next 10 years, though.   ???  If you want them and you want them cheap, you had better get them now.  ;)

Thats very true :)

I'll wait and watch on more information from Polaris. Here's a quote from Polaris on Empulse:

Quote
From the article:
"All Brammo patents, technology, intellectual property and Polaris enhancements remain the property of Polaris," a spokesman confirmed to Carscoops, "and will be applied to other products and business units as appropriate."

Here is an article from last year about Polaris's financial problems.  It looks like a major recall of the RZR Turbo (what ever that is) ended up being a major drag on their finances:  :(

RZR Turbo (what ever that is)

A four wheel, dune buggy like machine, that had a tendency to self-immolate, including anyone inside it. Serious enough that there were deaths involved.

One on fire

Two die in a RZR fire

Actually bought a 2016 Empulse TT today with 2 miles on it for $5,999 and they threw in the level 2 charger. Had to take the plunge at that price. Gonna buy a few spare parts as well just in case

Where did you nab yours from? Also did they let you keep the tax credit or make you sign it over?

Got it in Nashville area. 2 dealers had this deal. Also saw it in Panama City and Cinninatti so not a localized thing. Actually both nashville dealers listed at $6999 but came down to $5999 when pushed and shown other deals in PC and Cincy

The EV tax credit for 2 wheeled vehicle expired Dec 31, 2016. Only good on 4 wheels now. Some states may have one in effect. I would have gotten it if it was till around. Even thought maybe the dealer woudl say I ordered in Dec but the law states you had to have it in use by 12/31/16

I had to tell the dealer about the expiration as they were telling people they could get $2000 credit. Thaat was true at a $20000 price as the credit was 10% but I would have been able to keep the $600 if it was still in affect (or it it is reinstated which is unlikely since the 4 wheelers are not lobbying with us.)

http://www.afdc.energy.gov/laws/11382 (http://www.afdc.energy.gov/laws/11382)

"A credit is available for the purchase of a new qualified two-wheeled plug-in electric drive vehicle that draws propulsion using a traction battery that has at least 2.5 kilowatt hours (kWh) of capacity, uses an external source of energy to recharge the battery, has a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 14,000 pounds, is manufactured primarily for use on public roadways, and can drive at least 45 miles per hour. The credit is for 10% of the cost of the qualified vehicle, up to $2,500, and applies to vehicles acquired between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016. "

If You are looking 240 V charger which is by the way quite easy to carry on.
http://www.charge-amps.com/ray/ (http://www.charge-amps.com/ray/)
reason or other there is only type2 connector in photos, but Charge Amps has confirm that they have also type1 connector.

This won't work in the US, it is designed for European outlets.  In the US we don't have to carry a charge cord around, the charging stations all have their own cords.  Cheers!

Also, $10,000 Customer Cash!  Wow!

You're right that most of the European charging stations don't have cords but this isn't meant for that.

It's like one of these portable charging cords that you get with your EV:

But in a smaller form factor and with some extra gadgets in it:

ClipperCreek chargers are the ones that work best for the US. There's a 16A NEMA 14 50 (along with some add on adaptors for other plug types) that would work great for RV parks! I was looking at that, so i was just wondering if any other company made those kind of chargers :)

Did you get it at the 8th ave store? I've seen an Empulse TT parked out front from time to time. Are you local to Nashville?

It hasn't been reinstated and I suspect it won't be, in current political climate. But who knows, I didn't expect to see it revived a couple years ago either.

Regarding the shut down of Victory: it was a real surprise to me to hear that the Slingshot was selling so well, as I hadn't seen one on the road for the past couple of years.   ???

I've seen quite a few in the bay area. I imagine it must be pretty fun to drive (ride?) it! Also it has quite a few options for modding including aftermarket stuff. So that would make it a good sell. Not to mention the carpool lane access :)

Slingshot is a Polaris vehicle and will continue. Basically Victory could not compete with other cruisers and Polaris decided to just concentrate on the Indian instead.

It looks like there might be an electric Indian in the future some day.  Just don't hold your breath:

I hope the positive press and race wins garnered by the Empulse TT will give it, or something similar, a future either with Indian or Polaris. Only time will tell. But good to read that Polaris is at least thinking in that direction.

“We’re going to continue the electric part of the business,” Menneto responded.  When I asked if his response meant we’ll one day be seeing an Indian with an electric motor, he carefully said: “I think that’s a fair assessment.”

I'm sure all manufacturers are thinking about EV's at this point in time. It is certainly the future, so Polaris should be smart enough to have an electric lineup. Either with a Polaris badge or an Indian badge. Maybe now Indian has a chance to do something in the lines of Livewire.
They would have to make use of the R&D investments from Brammo IP and their Pike's peak and TT Zero runs for the past 2 years.
They just have to rethink their strategy in terms of pricing and offerings.

Anyway all of this will just be speculation until we hear something official :)

Here is an interesting analysis by Autoblog regarding the Victory shutdown.  Unfortunately, not a peep about the Brammo purchase, but they do comment about Saturn, which I found interesting because I still own one and was affected when GM shut down that brand:  http://www.autoblog.com/2017/01/19/victory-motorcycles-polaris-indian-analysis/ (http://www.autoblog.com/2017/01/19/victory-motorcycles-polaris-indian-analysis/)

I might add that my 1998 Saturn is still running, so maybe there is still hope for anyone owning a Brammo or Victory Empulse.   ???

Motorcycle.com has created an 11 page article summarizing the 10 things that they will miss most about the demise of the Victory brand.  None of the 10 even mentions electric motorcycles or the Victory Empulse TT:
