Title: 2012 ds BMS replacement *fixed*
Post by: gwong on December 06, 2016, 08:57:40 AM
Hello forum, I have acquired a 2012 DS  with the 2-4 code flashing.   no throttle response but good battery.. I live in Hawaii ,so no dealership or service  here .  The factory has told me that they would replace the BMS provided I get the bike to them   ::).. That's not happening, lol .  I guess my questions would be, is it an easy swap out ?  (new board shipped to me would be $1200)  Is there any way to upgrade to 2013 or better ?   any insights would be appreciated.  I am a mechanic and own a shop but I'm no electrical engineer. Perhaps any clues as to finding a cheaper used BMS.   Mahalo

You say Zero will replace. Your dime or theirs? As far as parts, if you contact Harlan at Hollywood Electrics, he may be able to act as go between
with Zero and have any parts drop shipped to you. For updating to newer, it would be doable, but, probably not economically feasible. Check with
Doc Bass, I believe that he has a 2012 that is pretty much updated to 2013. I believe that he has also deleted the MBB, but, it is only for drag
racing, so not sure how well that would work for you.

they said they would replace for free if I got the bike to them but thats impossible,lol.. I can swap it but 1200 is steep.  thx for the heads up I will call Hollywood .

Plane tickets for a technician to fly out to your location might be cheaper... and hilarious if they accepted that offer!

A friend of mine was able to fix his BMS, by changing some SMD resistors that were toast.

I'm afraid he didn't take any pictures, but you should look for "fried" SMD resistors in the BMS circuit board.
