for me was the Fox rear shock and spring. The factory rear suspension is under damped and over sprung so much that it creates an unsafe ride condition in many circumstances (ask me how I know). Fox designed a rear shock and spring that makes the 2011 DS ride smooth and handle bumps the way a motorcycle should. I won mine in an eBay auction for way too cheap but I would recommend the shock even at full MSRP. The install is a simple procedure that shouldn’t worry anyone. Get yours soon and you too will have a true magic carpet ride.

The Zero Fox Racing Rear Shock is a Zero accessory for the 2010-11 DS and 2010-12 X and MX. Part number is 10-03075.

Cheeky but true. :) I have to say I never saw the"forced air induction system" before I thought it was a cooling mod he made his self. Overheating has been an issue for a while now but maybe the IPM motor has solved it for now.

That hose is part of the motor cooling system. It ducts cold, blown air to the brushed motor when needed. There is a feedback temperature sensor on the motor. I wrapped it with gaffers tape to tame down the industrial look that it had.

My rear shock is hosed on my 2013 S. I brought it to a shop, they said it would need to get shipped out somewhere (manufacturer) for a rebuild because they don't do nitrogen shocks.
They had also said I might look around at the shocks from 250cc/300cc motorcycles and see if any fit.
How do I figure out what else will fit mine? It doesn't look like zero has an aftermarket shock for the S.

I also ride a Zero S 2013 with 45.000 km up to now. Rear shock and forks went bad. So i took my Zero to a suspension specialist nearby in Nueremberg, they are a dealer of Wilbers Suspension and will try to install a Wilbers Shock at my Zero.

Wilbers itself offers aftermarket shocks for Zero 2014 or newer:

But for my MY 2013 they were not able to get any suitable rear shock as the space on the 2013 swingarm is so limited. A rebuild was also not possible as they did not get spare parts for rear shock from fastace. Same for the fork they were not able to get any spare parts. Fastace itself did not reply, and the dimensions of spare parts differ from any other fork they have seen before so they were not able to rebuild fork also.
After two months sitting at their shop I have still a worn fork and rear shock. I told that to my Zero dealer and he will ask Zero if there exist new replacement fork and shocks for 2013 at least. If not it would be a end of life for my Zero 2013 far too soon.

Shock on my Zero S 2013 is BDA58RC, fork ALX07RC, both from Fastace.

No idea what we're going to do about it, though, but I'll keep asking around. I keep hearing hints that Hollywood Electrics or a related outfit will have a suspension upgrade option, but they're not ready to talk as far as I can tell. Maybe if you're persuasive about your situation, they can at least point you to an option worth trying:

Maybe the trick is to pick longer suspension for the same bike, and change out the kickstand to match? Just trying to fish around for a workable option; anything to keep these bikes maintainable for the life of the battery pack and frame at a reasonable cost.
Extracting the power train into a different vehicle would be the benchmark to beat because of its expense.

Does anybody have measurements of a non-OEM shock? I'm looking at ebay for options.
Looks like the measurements are 260mm from eye to eye and 55mm wide at the spring. I wonder if the 70mm spring will fit (3rd link).
Update: I just ordered the top link (AM65) to play around with it and see how it works.
