Title: See and be seen!
Post by: KOROL_VOLKOV on July 28, 2016, 10:13:57 AM
I ride in traffic a lot - often in low light going to and from work - and the transition to silent moto bliss has left me a bit vulnerable to careless motorists.  Since I was in the process of customizing my entire DS I decided to go all the way with the lighting.

I added a LED headlight and Motogadget M Blaze Pin and Bar End Signals.

Shield your eyes....pics to follow!

How colorful is your clothing?  And your helmet?  Those are huge factors, also.  A strong headlight won't really affect some idiot who is about to abstractedly go through a red light and t-bone you.

Headlights do help with the "left turn, oh sorry I didnt see you coming until I was in your way, so I slammed on the brakes" situations.

Check out the Banshee led light bar.
It connects to your horn circuit and pulses when you hold the horn on.
I use it as I go through intersections.
I also added Denali side lights, and always turn them on at night.

You honk your horn every time you go through an intersection?

You know, if someone has been devastated for a while by a car accident... I feel like it's okay to let them do their thing. But it does seem weird to use your horn and flash lights through every intersection.

Ride safe through your own awareness.

Come on guys. Don't be jerks.
I use it when I go through an intersection that is obviously a threat.
Not every intersection.

Sorry; I led with sympathy but let that come across wrong. Do what you need to do, but I feel like these things would not save me in the slightest in the traffic environment I'm in. So I act guarded.

Hi Brian thanks for the good advice. I agree.
Makes sense, every little bit of caution helps.
I did appreciate your sympathy.😊

The pizza commercial is still funny.

I have an intersection near me that is obviously a threat, since I got t-boned there by a few years ago by someone who ignored the red light (and the tall buildings make it a blind corner).  I still go through there, but I can't imagine honking my horn.  In fact, I can't imagine anywhere in the developed world where this would be a common practice.  Sounds a little bit too much like the rationale that some Harley riders use to justify the "loud pipes save lives" theory.
