Title: Battery Recall/Replacement of Zero 2013 S
Post by: AGTster on June 28, 2016, 06:14:17 AM
Hi All, want to report that my Zero 2013 S just got back from Zero's factory with a brand new and higher powered battery! I had the 8.5kW and now it has the 9.4kW. Nice to have ~12% increase in range. Apparently the battery wasn't keeping up with their guarantee of 300K miles and was losing charge faster than expected. Kudos to Zero for offering this replacement free of charge. Bike is working fine, and I noticed my drive from SF to Belmont on the highway now only takes 40% vs 60%. I suspect it's partly the larger capacity, partly that the battery hold a full charge better.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

This is a great story indeed. I think Zero has earnt lots of gold stars from doing the right thing. Did the battery replacement exercise take long?

I was very happy to see that I got the 2016 13kw for my replacement, haven't seen a huge range increase but traffic and heat have been ridiculous lately, and I'm not sure my gauge is calibrated for the new battery either, I've gone 20 kms and shut the bike down only to start it up and have it back at 98%, not that I'm complaining at all!

Wow, a 2016 replacement. Maybe others will get lucky with that!

The time it took was quite long. It took 2-3 weeks to pick up the bike, and then 2-3 weeks to get it done. All told ~6weeks. My only complaint is the time it took and the lack of communication on how long it would take.
