Title: Tank bags for the power tank
Post by: CrashCash on September 30, 2015, 09:13:10 AM
So I have a power tank and I miss the handy storage nook quite a bit.

Unfortunately all my tank bags are either magnetic or the proprietary SW-Motech clip-onto-the-fuel-cap type. I only have one ancient strap-type and the straps don't come close to fitting the SR. They want to wrap all the way around the tank, which you can't do.

I also don't have any local dealers that carry tank bags for me to see if they fit. Nothing online ever shows the strap design/arrangement.

Any suggestions?

If you are looking for magnetic attachment points why not remove the tank and epoxy some in place?

I wound up taking a small Firstgear tank bag and running a single strap around the bar risers on my DSR. On the other hand, I had a Supercharger J1772 inlet sticking up to anchor the bag.

I use a typical small tank bag that uses two straps in the front of the bag that run around my steering head and two straps at the rear that I fasten around the frame tubes behind the "tank" cover. The straps have clips so if I want to remove the bag, it can be removed and reinstalled in seconds. I bought my Cycle Case tank bag from Motorcycle Superstore on sale for only $25. I also bought Cycle Case saddlebags, and while not as easy to install and remove, they are working fine.  I think I paid $50 for them when Motorcycle Superstore had them on sale, too. A picture is attached.
