Title: Weak for T on Fx?
Post by: mguw on August 30, 2015, 03:33:24 PM
Hi guys

I have my fx5.7 for one week now and really enjoy it for my commute. Lots of fun..   (Coming from a duke 690)

But although brand new the handle was not straight so I tried to straighten it by forcing against a pillar as I am used from my dirt bike and Oops it bent all the way to the other side.

So I finally straightened it using less force,  but I am surprised by the lack of rigidity of the fork.   Is there something loose on do you notice the same?

Regards
Marcel

I haven't had that problem. Maybe your triple-clamp bolts are a bit loose?

It is a brand new  2015.

The triple clamp are the bolts holding the tubes?  Yes I checked them,  they are tight

A+ Marcel

Yeah, the bolts clamping the tubes. Mine has been fine, but I haven't ridden my FX as hard off-road as my other bikes yet; I'm a bit paranoid about being stuck in the middle of the forest with a broken bike :). I've removed the mirrors 'cause they were snagging on branches, and also the kick-stand(I tricked the sensor with a magnet), because it was just too low, scraping and snagging on rocks, logs, roots and ruts. I'm going to order a spare belt to take with me, or maybe a chain kit.

You do realize that to put a new belt on you have to undo the front swing arm mounts, You would need to take all the tools to do that as well. If you are worried about damaging the belt then maybe a chain is better for you.

Yeah, I always take bike tools with me when I ride off-road; fixing a bike(if possible) is way better than trying to walk out of the forest! I'm hoping the belt will be ok, but will probably get a chain kit if I break one.
