I got my r&g tidy tail and got it mounted up. I have yet to wire it. I am having mixed feelings about it. I didn't like it at first but now it's growing on me. Then I watched a video of and SR with the stock rear fender and thought maybe that does look better than the r&g. I don't know, what are your opinions? Sorry for the crappy pics.

I like that they accentuate the tail and that's good. However, I just put my stock unit back on co's I was sick of getting a wet backpack in the slightest rain

The tail tidy looks way better although I agree it provides no wet road spray protection. However, the stock fender doesn't help much in that regard with that big gap down the middle.

I would really like to see something like that (http://moto.caradisiac.com/Access-Design-bavette-arriere-pour-XJR1300-et-XJR1300-Racer-2015-022) for a Zero. I think it could be nice and useful with a small fender.

Tail tidies are great, right up to the point where you ride in the rain, and your back gets coated in water and road grit. 8)

Personally if I could get my hands on something like this for my Zero, I'd create a full mudguard that then went to the existing hugger. Help stop the spray going up near the electrics.

I love the look of the tidy tail. I do wish the hugger provided more coverage, like on my Buell.

Manufacturers cannot produce road bikes to sell publically that don't have the lights/reflectorsout past the center of the wheel

"This" is the topic of my thread. The r&g tidy tail, also called the fender eliminator. It removes the rear fender/plate holder and replaces it with a more compact design. I am confused when a few people state, "I wish something like this was available for the zero." It is available.

Which is also something I'd like to see for the Zero, as having the tail tidy on causes problems with spray in the wet...

Honestly, I've never understood why mfrs got rid of their wheel-hugger fenders and went with frame-mounted, higher fenders on their street bikes anyhow. I find it very much a "dirt bike" look, and out of place on a street bike. Okay, yes, a wheel-hugger has a little more unsprung weight, but why isn't that seen as a problem on the front wheel?
In addition to being much more effective against spray, I just like the look of the wheel huggers better on street bikes.
Then again, I think 22-inch car wheels look ridiculous, too, so maybe I'm just behind the times.
Also, I've been caught in the rain a few times (I don't purposely ride in weather, but it does happen sometimes), and I get no spray at all. I have the rack and trunk installed on my bike, which seems to be far more effective at catching spray than the stock "fender" is.

I'm seriously considering removing my tail tidy, and refitting the original tail (with the center gap filled) until I can make or find a proper full rear wheel hugger. The amount of water spray & grit going up onto the rear of my bike and my back is unfunny, and I'm slightly concerned that water from this spray might be getting under the seat and into the controller enclosure under the seat.

How does that plastic fender with the hole in the center protect you from spray?
Draw a line tangent to the wheel the tail. The line would never hit your back. They you have to consider that any motion forward would make the spray from the tire go back like a rooster tail.
Spray on your back is probably coming from other vehicles or your front tire and the air turbulence is depositing the spray and grit on your back. Think how the back of a car gets dusty on a long trip.
That is my guess. I would like to see some video of the spray getting around the tail to your back from the wheel.
