My dealer (BMW dealership that brings in Zeros on the side) gave it to me along with the bike and they didn't know what it did ::)
Any clue?
Also, my left-hand mirror is starting to become loose. When I go through my city's goatty roads, the mirror portion shakes looser and looser from its stalk until my mirror's hanging nearly facedown. Positioning it a certain way helps keep it in place, but I'd rather keep it in its original position. Is there a known fix for this?
Otherwise, love my FX 5.7. Now up to 1,600 miles on it, and just started teaching and commuting for the year and am now head-butting with my college's Parking Services because they don't like me parking on campus sidewalks to suck power from outlets of lamp-poles. My school is a well-regarded tech college, yet it has yet to get with them times and start installing convenient charging points at actual parking areas. :o

BTW- Harlan, I had my charger on the FX shut down because of batt over-temp for the first time last night.
When I returned from a road ride @ 106* air temp my batt was 114* so I waited for 1 1/2 hrs before starting charging. At 69% charge it shut down with a warning triangle on the dash and the green LED flashing rpidly. I assumed that was because of over-temp and the batts felt quite warm to the hand. This morning it looks like it's going to continue charge OK. Does this sound normal to you?
What is the batt cut-off temp?

Anyone else run their mirrors upside down? (FX) I find it brings them to a similar width as the bars for ideal lane-splitting, while still providing good visibility. Still wider than my Sprint ST (with mirrors folded in) due to the wide bars but manageable. Not sure if the other bikes use the same mirrors.

I thought the tool was to loosen my tight mirror but the pegs ended up snapping off after not much force... it must just work the other way around ;)

Hey Trikester and Harlan, I had the same issue happen to me yesterday.
It was 106 degrees and my motorcycle would not start.
I had to wait hours for it to cool down before I could ride.
Just what is the temperature that with prevent you from ridding?
At what temperature does it need to drop to in order for you to get power back?

I run my FX mirrors upside down for all of the reasons you mention. They are near perfect upside down.

I have the advantage to own a 2012DS and a 2013FX. I have used extensions at my DS before. But now I swapped the DS and FX mirrors and it works perfect for me.

Interesting. I also have a 2012 DS and a 2013 FX. I'll take a look at doing that.

The stock 12 DS mirrors gave me a good view of my elbow. A lot of 12 DS and S owners complained about this.
The 13 FX mirrors in the standard configuration were really wide and I beat them silly in brush on a few trail rides. Looking for a quick fix, I just spun them upside down and I prefer the narrower profile and they still provide an excellent view of the cages coming up behind you on the road. Better in every way IMHO.
