Title: RideApart interviews Mission Motors
Post by: Richard230 on August 06, 2013, 03:52:29 AM
Here is a link to an interview by RideApart with Mission Motor's President and "Chief Strategy Officer".  Not too many specifics, but they talk a lot about their company's business philosophy.  I found it interesting that they apparently do not intend to use motorcycle retail outlets to market and sell their bikes.  It sounds to me like they plan to sell directly to the customer and provide any servicing by visiting the customer and working on the bike at their location, if needed (crash damage was mentioned).  I have my doubts about this plan in the long run, though. Zero and Brammo were mentioned, as was Honda. Here is the article:

I love this quote from the article:

Quote
RideApart: What’s the next step?

Mark Seeger: 48 months. We’re on track to deliver a bike that outperforms the one you just rode on range and acceleration and all that stuff, but for around a $15,000 price point. That’s 48 months away.

I'm assuming "the one [he] just rode" was the RS.  So, >RS performance for $15k in 2 years.  Shall we start a pool?

I'm not putting any money on that prediction coming true.  It didn't work for me when I pre-ordered a Brammo Empulse 10.0 over two years ago.   ::)

I think if you look closely enough at the MM plan and listen to the rhetoric you will find them similar to the Tesla approach.  Direct sales, no dealers, premium offering,,,,
